CANDIDATE RESPONSES

Representing the 22 councils of Western Queensland stretching across 60% of the state, the Western Queensland Alliance of Councils (WQAC) wrote to each of the major party candidates seeking a response to support the WQAC’s Election Platform.

We congratulate Anthony Albanese MP our next Prime Minister.

We look forward to working with the new Australian Government to deliver on the Australian Labor Party's commitments to Western Queensland and continuing to grow opportunities to Invest in the West to make our region, and in turn the nation, even stronger.

Ahead of the election the ALP provided a response to our Election Platform. Read the ALP’s response.

We hope the insight from candidate responses will help inform our region’s voters and our mates beyond our boundaries about where our candidates stand. We also trust all contesting candidates will appreciate, understand, and support the aspirations we have for our communities and agree that the only way forward is to Invest in the West – It pays dividends!

The WQAC local government areas are covered by the two federal electorates of Kennedy and Maranoa.
